Body Artwork: Chelsea Piedad

This is my homegirl Chelsea Piedad who asked if I can do a Koi fish body tatt on her. The only difference is she wanted a lot of color. I'm use to doing a lot of black or red or dark colored Kois so this was the first time I had to splash in a ton of color in it. Went to her house and got started. We spent about 3 hours at her house then my brother had to be picked up from Bart so we went to pick him up. After that we ended up kickin it at my hboy Josh's house where I brought all my supplies and finished it there. So all in all it was about a 6 hour progress. Didn't feel like it though. Time flies when you draw. lol

Sketchbook Series: Filipino Pride

So if you read my other post about my homegirl asking me to design a Filipino Tattoo for her Dad, this was what initially came out. It has the Philippine Islands, the Sun from the Flag, and the Eagle. When I finished it however, I liked it so much, I decided to save it for myself lol! Was that selfish of me? Nahhh! :P

I always wanted to draw one of these. This is my first one. Not too shabby, I think. :)

Sketchbook Series: Japanese Tidal Wave

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the Japanese Tidal Wave picture. I just had to draw it. I was actually testing out some new markers I ordered online. :D

Sketchbook Series: Cobra

I was watching Miami Ink one night and a guy got a sick Cobra tattoo'ed on him. That basically inspired me to try my hand at drawing one.

Body Artwork: Ronald Bigornia

I started drawing on myself for the heck of it and people started taking them for real tattoos. They were literally mindblown when I told them it was fake. I splurged an idea to maybe start doing it on other people. This is my good friend Ronald Bigornia who happily and willingly let me draw on him. It started with me designing a tattoo that he actually wants to get and then me drawing it on him to see how it would look. This is the turnout. Tattoo Design: Alexander Domdoma

My homegirl has this uncle that looked through my body artwork photo album on FB and said he wants to meet me in person. I guess he really liked my work. He's a tattoo artist who agreed on teaching me. Problem is he lives in Pittsburgh, and even though that's not far at all, I am not mobile at the moment so I have no way of going over there on a regular basis. :(

Anyway, she hit me up and said her dad wanted me to design him a Filipino Tattoo. That's all he asked. However I took that was completely up to me. Well I designed this one, and a few days later, he got it tatted by the Uncle that wants to teach me. They both loved the design (aside from the minor tweaks here and there). I've designed Tattoos for many different people but he was actually the first guy to actually get it done! :D

Haven't picked up a pen in a while. That morning I woke up and my mind said "I need to draw something." I busted out my supplies, laid out my paper and sat there, staring blankly at it, not knowing where to start, or what to do, for that matter. Finally decided to stop concentrating so much, picked up my pen, and just started doodling. Next thing I know, this pops up. I know I've been wanting to design myself a tattoo but everytime I tried, nothing right came out. I'm finally happy with this piece and plan on getting it on my right bicep to be half of my right arm sleeve.

Only right to start off my first Art Blog site with my history of it, yea? :)

To start, I come from an artistic family; My Dad is an Architect, my Mom used to be a painter and she loves interior design, and all of us kids love to draw. Our styles in drawing are all different, however, aside from my older brother and I. My little sister loves fashion design, so you'll see her with many different dress designs. My older sister is more of an arts and crafts person. Give her a project and guarantee she will blow your mind. And as for me and my older brother, we both love graphic design. But we also love the Japanese style. My Kuya can draw just about anything, and he's also a photographer and a Slam Poet. He was also featured on HBO Def Poetry! He tours around the world and does many different shows. You can find me with many different Koi/Dragon/Hannya mask drawings or anything of that sort. And I also have this uncanny ability to see something, and draw an exact image of it. I'm not really good at memory so I'll have to look at it and at the same time draw it. I also really, really, REALLY suck at drawing people and doing portraits. lol

I actually started drawing because of my Kuya. He's actually the main reason I do most of my hobbies; Draw/Graphic Design/Dance. I'm really like a mini-him. I remember he did this big portrait of a geisha that my mom hung on the wall. I saw it and for some reason, I had this feeling that I wanted to draw it. I remember sitting at an ironing board while my mom vacuumed, tons of paper everywhere, not stopping until I got it right. I was in about.. Kindergarten and I was ALREADY picky with my work! lol I seriously stayed at it over and over and over again. I finally got it right and that feeling of accomplished just took over me. I couldn't stop staring at my drawing, then at the portrait, back to the drawing, back to the portrait and smiling. I fell in love with drawing at that exact moment. I remember I had this Pokemon book and I drew EVERY SINGLE 150 of them. Each day a different Pokemon. I'd look at the book and draw it. That's when I discovered my ability to see something and duplicate it. I turned them all into a book, to which I gave to a friend in 1st grade. I really wish I kept that. As I grew older, drawing stuck with me. I started "tagging", doing graffiti. And people would ask me to tag their names and what not. Doodling in class to pass time, go home, draw some more. As years went by I stopped for a while, occasionally coming back to it. And it's funny, no matter how long of a break I take from it, my style, skill, technique never fade. It's like I'm prone to getting rusty at it lol.  I took some classes here and there but they always bored me, teaching me things I already knew. Sure I picked up some new techniques but they were things I could have learned just by drawing on my own desk at home. After that I taught myself how to use Photoshop and I was hooked on that for a good couple of years. I would design banners for peoples signatures on forums and what not. Edit people pictures for them, do advertisements/flyers. Now til this day I find myself designing tattoos for people, and myself. I'm trying to pick up the art of Tattooing myself as a side job so that's something I'm shooting to be in the near future. Let's hope for the best. :) I'm actually giving myself I guess what you can call "practice" by doing Fake Tattoos with Sharpies on myself and on others. You'll be seeing some pictures of those here and there.

My Passion for Art?
It has it's moments lol. Like I said I took classes on it, and one of those classes was Cartooning/Animation. That class had us drawing non-stop for that 1 hour and 45 minutes to finish a cartoon. If you've never created a cartoon before, you're basically sitting at a trace/light table with your drawing. The next drawing you practically trace it, adding a little movement to it. Picture doing a flip book, but, bigger. So it got real tiring. I did so much of it at school, when I got home, the last thing I wanted to touch was a pencil. I would take long breaks from drawing but there would be times I'd get a sudden inspiration or move to draw. I think that's when my best art work comes out; when I FEEL like drawing, not FORCED.

What I love about drawing is when I do it, I kind of drift off into my own little world. Everything around me just disappears and I kind of just black out for that time frame. In that world, nothing else matters. All my troubles, stress, problems go away and it's just me, the paper, and my pen. Side Note: I hardly EVER use a pencil. When people ask me "What if you make a mistake?" I tell them, "I improvise." And it always works out. Whether it be drawing, or a project in Photoshop, when I'm in that zone, I'm THE ZONE. I won't stop until it's finished. I feel as if I take a break and try and continue it later, my inspiration or motivation or my mind set of that project will fade and I won't be able to live up to what I started off with. That's why whenever I'm feeling down, or stressed, or just have a lot on my mind, I resort to my pen. And to be honest, it's my perfect stress reliever.

Aside from drawing I also got into Spoken Word Poetry and I use to Rap lol. Writing my own lyrics was another way for me to get my feelings out. Granted, I'm no where near as good as my brother, but I try lol. I'm not really into abstract Art to be honest. I can go to a museum or look at portraits and all that, but it's not really my thing.

Where Will I Go With Art?
When I get asked what I want to major in I always say "Art" but I don't really know what path of Art I want to take on. There's so many to choose from! Like I said I can't deal with something that has me drawing non-stop for days on end. As much as I LOVE drawing, I'll admit it does get tiring. What I noticed mostly throughout my artsy life, is that most of my work was done for OTHER people. When I learned how to tag, I was tagging a different persons name every day. When I got into graphic design, I was doing banners for peoples websites, signatures, fliers for their events. And now I find myself designing tattoos for people. So I think what I'll most likely doing is designing things for people. Maybe advertisements, billboards, tattoos? Who knows. That way I can work at home and I won't be exhausting myself with it every day.
